On occasion when I have a spare moment or two, I'll pull out my slightly worn Class of '82 yearbook and carefully punch the name of an old classmate into a search engine's request field. Married names can make finding a majority of the female members of the old class somewhat difficult. However given the growing use of the internet, more and more people have business and personal pages on the web which places many of your fellow classmates just a few clicks away... ...that is, unless the friend you hope to find, goes by the last name of Smith, Jones or Johnson. The other day I decided to give myself a real challenge. One of the nicest people I have ever known was a classmate by the name of Dave Johnson. I haven't seen or heard from Dave in .. I guess about 20 years. Well, I thought. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to track Dave down and tell him about this little website and maybe hear a bit of what he has been doing with himself over the years since leaving the halls of R L Thomas. Finding Dave Johnson was not a problem. I just used my little Google pop up search box I have installed on my browser and voila, Dave Johnson. The problem was what I had before me, was not only a link to Dave Johnson's website, but links to hundreds and hundreds of other webpages all created by, for or about guys named Dave Johnson! My journey had begun. I found Dave Johnson the Realtor and didn't recognize him. In fact I found 5 Dave Johnson's who are Realtors and didn't recognize a one. |
