Esther Dunn

Esther Anna Dunn

Esther Anna Dunn was born on June 23rd, 1901 to George and Caroline Dunn of Lake Road in Webster.

After graduating from Webster High School, Miss Dunn continued her education at Geneseo State Normal School and the University of Rochester. Following a stint of teaching at several rural schools, Esther returned to Webster High School, as a junior high social studies teacher, a position she held from 1925 to 1963.

After years of teaching, Esther's passion for history led her to the position of Webster Town Historian. In her capacity as Town Historian, she wrote the book "Webster ...Through the Years" in 1971. The book details Webster's history from the times of the French explorers through Webster's emergence as a thriving agricultural center and its eventual residential development.

Miss Dunn died in October of 1983.
